Munich, 30 October 2019
– In this year’s Digital Champions Awards, an initiative of WirtschaftsWoche and Deutsche Telekom, Alexander and Konstantin Sixt were awarded the special prize “Digitisers” yesterday in Cologne. The top-class jury honoured the two brothers for the most outstanding digitalisation story in 2019. Nico Gabriel, SIXT’s Divisional Director of Digital X, accepted the award from former boxing world champion Dr. Wladimir Klitschko.

The special prize “Digitisers” honours visionaries of digitalisation. First-class lighthouse projects related to the transformation of German SMEs are recognised. One special thing about these awards is that the winners are chosen solely by the jury. No applications are accepted. The prize has been awarded to strong German entrepreneurs who have rendered outstanding services to the digital development of the German economy since 2016.

“Alexander and Konstantin Sixt burn for further digital development,” the top-class jury said in explaining its decision. “By creating new digital business models, they are steering the future of the family-owned company. Whereas Europcar and Hertz were once its competitors, now more and more companies such as Uber and Google are becoming relevant in the competitive set.

SIXT founded DriveNow in Munich in 2011 as a joint venture with the BMW Group. Following its exit in 2018, the company launched its mobility platform SIXT ONE with the new SIXT App in February 2019. Through the integration of digital car rental, car sharing and the provision of ride and taxi services in a single app, SIXT customers around the globe now have access to more than 270,000 vehicles and mobility offers from around 1,500 partners with over 1.5 million drivers in more than 250 cities worldwide. SIXT is thus well on its way to becoming one of the leading international mobility platforms.

Alexander Sixt, Chief Strategy Officer at SIXT SE: “We are very pleased to receive this award as ‘digitisers.’ SIXT has always been a very strongly IT-driven company and has always used the opportunities of digitalisation consistently and in the interests of its customers. With the launch of our new SIXT App and our integrated mobility platform ONE, we have taken a very important and truly disruptive step in the digitalisation of our business model in the mobility market. We accept this award on behalf of all employees who have made this success possible through their great achievements. The award encourages us to continue to drive the digital transformation of our company and its transformation into one of the leading digital mobility providers.”

Focus on the customer: 2nd place for SIXT in the German Fairness Award 2019
Nevertheless, SIXT is not only a driver of digitalisation and an innovator in the field of mobility, but always focuses on its customers. Consequently, SIXT ranked second among car rental companies in the “German Fairness Award 2019.” The winners of this award are determined on the basis of a consumer survey conducted by the German Institute for Service Quality and the news television station n-tv. Around 50,000 customers were asked about 748 companies in 48 categories in the areas of value for money, reliability and transparency.
