An international women’s meeting with heart and mind: Regine Sixt welcomes more than 1,200 power women to her traditional “Damenwiesn” at the Munich Oktoberfest

  • A great ambience with Bavarian flair, unique in this world, and an exciting exchange of experiences in the Schützen-Festzelt at the foot of the Bavaria
  • For the benefit of children and adolescents worldwide: fundraising for the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation “Drying Little Tears”
  • Bavarian cosiness: all ladies dressed in Dirndl and traditional costume

Munich/ Germany, 23 September 2019 – Over 1,200 handpicked power women from culture, business, politics, medicine, the media industry, the diplomatic corps and children’s aid organisations all over the world accepted Regine Sixt’s invitation to this year’s Damenwiesn. “It fills me with incredible pride to be able to celebrate today with friends and business partners from all over the world and to do good for children in need from all cultures and religions,” said Regine Sixt, who personally welcomed all the ladies at the entrance to the Schützen-Festzelt.

The ”Damenwiesn” is a highlight at Munich’s Oktoberfest. This year too, the invitation stood under the banner of the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation “Drying Little Tears.” This foundation has been supporting aid projects for children in need worldwide for many years. Accordingly, the ladies insisted on making a contribution to improving the living conditions for children and young people worldwide with their donations.

“Regines Damenwiesn” has long been known for the warm hospitality of Regine Sixt. On the occasion of a cosy lunch, the event in the Schützen-Festzelt at the foot of the Bavaria offers space for cheerful networking and an exciting exchange of experiences among committed top women from all areas of society. This is one of the reasons why the event that has been held for over 20 years is one of the largest, best-known and most popular women’s networks in the world.

Regine Sixt is responsible for SIXT’s international marketing. Together with her husband Erich Sixt, who manages the company in the third generation, she has built SIXT to its current size. With its products car rental, car sharing and driving services, SIXT now ranks as one of the leading international mobility service providers. The company is present at more than 2,100 stations in more than 110 countries and offers its 20 million customers a premium fleet of more than 270,000 vehicles worldwide. Important help for children
As founder and CEO of the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation, Regine Sixt traditionally asks for voluntary donations for children in need on the first Wiesn Monday. Her foundation “Drying Little Tears” works worldwide to improve the health and living conditions for children and young people. Its objective is to implement lighthouse projects of hope for children and young people in need in as many countries as possible that SIXT is active in. Many of the approximately 7,500 SIXT employees around the world provide the foundation with active support, volunteering and putting their heart and soul into local foundation projects around the globe, and seeing their commitment to the weakest members of society as a great enrichment of their lives. Since the foundation costs are borne entirely by SIXT, every cent goes directly to the international aid projects without deducting any administrative costs.

In recent years, the Regine Sixt Children’s Aid Foundation has continuously expanded its work and realised more than 175 aid projects in the areas of education, health, care and emergency aid in more than 50 countries. Since the beginning of this year alone, more than 20 new aid projects have been supported all over the world. These include, among others, projects in the respective areas:

Education
Nairobi, Kenya: Opportunities through education for children from slums: Built a school for pre-school children in cooperation with the Help Alliance and the Anglican Church of Kenya.
Jerusalem, Israel: Construction of a learning centre for second and third graders at Chemed Ganim Elementary School, joint project with Sir Jonathan and Jack Lyons.

Care
Quatres-Bornes, Mauritius: Renovation and conversion of the Orphanage Crèche Coeur Immaculé de Marie and purchase of a play container for 30 orphans between 0 and 5 years of age.
Rabat, Morocco: Renovation and equipment of the Life House, an accommodation for families whose children are in the clinic to treat their cancer.
